Shania Twain is having a major moment. A biopic is in development, and a new album arrives next month.

A film titled ‘Shania’ is in development at Sony Pictures. 

Leah McKendrick will write and direct the project. Furthermore, Twain, 60, will serve as a producer alongside Amie Karp.

McKendrick previously wrote and directed ‘Scrambled’ in 2023. “Long before I was making movies, I was shooting Shania music videos in my bedroom,” she wrote on Instagram. “Let’s go, girls.”

While plot details remain under wraps, Twain’s journey from Windsor, Ontario to country superstar offers plenty of inspiration. Her catalog includes smash hits like ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’ and ‘You’re Still the One.’

In addition to the biopic, Twain is preparing to release her seventh studio album, \Little Miss Twain,’ on July 24. The record marks her first album since 2023’s ‘Queen of Me.’

“I’m turning 60 and I feel good,” she told PEOPLE. “I’ve got to celebrate that.”

Twain described the album as a “reflection of my childhood” and the “environment I grew up in.” She added: “I had never shared that with the fans before.”

“It was really fun to revisit the past with a great and positive outlook,” she continued. “I took ownership of being able to say to myself that it’s made me who I am. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Consequently, fans can expect both new music and a movie in the near future. A busy season lies ahead for the country-pop icon.
