Sha’Carri Richardson is running in the direction of accountability following her arrest for domestic violence.

The Olympic gold medalist made headlines when she was arrested following a physical altercation with her partner, Christian Coleman, a fellow sprinter, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Following the initial news breaking, the drama went viral again when Coleman defended her and again when video footage surfaced.

Now, Richardson is speaking up and out.

Sharing a video on her Instagram Stories, she said she is using the incident to reflect and change.

She fessed:

“For certain, [there has been] a lot of self-reflection, a lot of consciousness of not only putting myself in a vulnerable situation with somebody who I care about and have a lot of respect for, is something that holding me accountable.”

“I’m taking this time to not just look at myself but to get to a certain level of help that overall will correctly represent who I truly am in my heart and my spirit, and not allowing this time but welcoming this time to be more.

And so, I really appreciate you all supporting me and showing up and even holding me accountable for being my best self.

So, more than anything, I refuse to run away and face whatever comes head-on because everything on the other side is greater, but you’ve got to get through to get there.”
