Regina King is offering an emotional glimpse into what awaits the audience in ‘Children of Blood and Bone.’

The Oscar winner, who stars in the highly anticipated adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi‘s novel, got deep about the themes in the film.

Speaking during a cast panel in New York, trying not to give any spoilers, King told audiences:

“…there is a beautiful story that for any of us that has experienced any loss, that you leave the story with hop and reminded of the joy and the gift of that spirit that will always be with you. And it’s just a beautiful thing.”

She also shared that expectant viewers can anticipate:

“Seeing yourself and you can anticipate having hope.”

The comments carry particular weight given the actress’ own devastating loss following the death of her son, Ian Alexander Jr., in 2022, marking her reflections especially poignant.

The upcoming movie, set in the mythical kingdom of Orïsha, follows a young woman on a mission to restore magic to her oppressed people. With an all-star cast that includes Thuso Mbedu, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Damson Idris, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Amandla Stenberg, Tosin Cole and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
