Britney Spears may have given her dedicated fans (affectionately known as the #BritneyArmy) a glimmer of hope that she would return to the stage after taking to social media at the top of the year to indicate she had her eye on performing “overseas.”

If a recent revealing and rather lengthy post to X (formerly known as Twitter) is any evidence, however, she has since changed her mind.

In what came as a heart-tugging confession, Spears took to X on Friday (August 7) to reveal she feels like a “failure” as a mother because one of her sons does not share her spiritual beliefs.

“I’ve cried so much,” she wrote in the lengthy message on X . “I’m extremely weak, but through weakness they say you will find the most strength because you surrender and give it to God.”

Despite her son’s admission, Spears is still certain there’s “a Holy Spirit that sits high in the kingdom of heaven” because “I’ve been there; I’ve felt it.”

The post began with what appeared to be a photo of her now-adult sons Sean Preston and Jayden James when they were children.

Elsewhere in the tweet, Spears slammed her parents, reflected on the emotional toll of her highly publicized conservatorship, questioned the value of fame, and spoken frankly about not wanting to return to music.

“I don’t want to be in the business,” she wrote. “It’s not like it was when I was younger.”

The candid revelations comes nearly 6 months after Britney made headlines for selling her entire stake in her hitmaking catalog in what came as a blockbuster deal.
