Gugu Mbatha-Raw is taking viewers on a haunting journey to Jamaica in Sky’s gripping new thriller, ‘Possession.’

Blending a tense legal battle with supernatural mystery, the series sees the actress caught in a chilling story rooted in family secrets, colonial history, and generational trauma.

Mbatha-Raw stars as Claudia, an ambitious biracial lawyer who travels to Jamaica to challenge an inheritance claim lodged by a local resident against a wealthy white aristocrat.

However, the assignment quickly takes a disturbing turn when she discovers that the property at the centre of the dispute is Hope Hill, the Connaught family’s former plantation.

More unsettling still, the ominous estate is the same house that has been appearing in Claudia’s nightmares.

The newly released trailer offers a first look at the atmospheric thriller, which brings together elements of legal drama and supernatural horror while exploring questions of inheritance, identity, and the lasting scars of colonialism.

Joining Mbatha-Raw in the cast are Aml Ameen, Jocelyn Jee Esien, and John Simm.

‘Possession’ premieres on Sky and streaming service NOW on August 6.
