Pooh Shiesty will remain behind bars despite his final effort to secure release before his trial on kidnapping and robbery charges failed.

Judge David C. Godbey issued a decision on Tuesday (July 21) denying a request to reconsider the previous judge’s ruling. The court had denied Shiesty’s release on bond to home confinement in April.

Shiesty’s attorneys had proposed strict conditions for his release. These included regular drug testing, major travel restrictions, a GPS monitor, and avoiding all contact with co-defendants or alleged victims.

His attorney Kent Schaffer expressed disappointment, telling ‘Complex’:

“We are disappointed that the judge rejected our proposal, but we are not totally surprised. Now we will move on to the next phase, preparing for trial.”

Co-defendants have had better luck, however. Rapper Big30 walked out of jail on June 4. Shiesty’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., also secured a bond and was released in May.

The case stems from a January incident at a Dallas recording studio. Prosecutors allege Shiesty held Gucci Mane at gunpoint, forced him to sign release paperwork, and took his wedding ring, watch, earrings, and cash.

Trial is set to begin on February 22, 2027.
