Cardi B‘s forthcoming album may ask ‘Am I the Drama,’ but – let some critics tell it – the answer to that question is a resounding “yes.”
No stranger to having tiffs with fans on social media over the years, her latest battle with the #BardiGang came just this week following comments she made during a live video.
Look inside to see what’s caused her latest drama.
As the GRAMMY winner inches closer to the September 19 release of ‘Drama,’ she’s unveiling limited edition merchandise (including signed art cards, physical CDs, and more) in celebration.
Among the merch was a specially designed t-shirt that came in plus sizes up to 3x.
While live on August 1, the rapstress noted she and her team didn’t forecast how popular the larger sizes of the shirt would be as her website reportedly sold out of them in 20 minutes.
“We really underestimated the box sets,” the ‘Invasion of Privacy’ performer relayed while eating fast food (as seen in the video ab0ve. “So the box sets are completely sold out, especially because you fat f-cks—clearly you guys are fat as f-ck, no Chick-fil-A for y’all.”
Assuming backlash would follow her controversial comment, Cardi attempted to get ahead of any negative responses.
“Now, knowing that my fans is fat—I can’t even make fun of fat people no more. Don’t call me fatphobic, y’all, ‘cause everybody make fun of my BBL,” she said while jokingly referring to the virtual session as a “body-shaming space.” “I could body shame people cause y’all body-shame me. If y’all body shame me, I could body shame y’all. You could talk about my body and I talk about yours, so it doesn’t matter. I call you fat, though it’s not a big deal. You can talk about my BBL all day, but I haven’t talked about you being fat all day.”
Ouch!
While some viewers of the live didn’t make much of Cardi’s commentary, others thought it to be insensitive of her to criticize her devoted fans – especially while consuming fast food.
At writing, however, the femcee has not responded to the growing hoopla over her statement.
