Notorious B.I.G.’s Ex-Manager Wins Legal Battle Against Faith Evans Over Rapper’s Catalog

Former Biggie Manager Wins Catalog Proceeds in Ruling Involving Faith Evans

In what comes as an unexpected twist, a legal battle over control of a share of The Notorious B.I.G.‘s music catalog has ended with a win for his former manager Wayne Barrow over the rapper’s widow – the GRAMMY-winning R&B diva Faith Evans.

Kathaleen McCormick, Chancellor of Delaware, delivered her decision in the state’s court on August 7 and confirmed that Barrow is entitled to Voletta Wallace‘s 25% share of profits from the Primary Wave catalog partnership.

The ruling requires Evans, co-owner of Notorious B.I.G. LLC, to release the withheld funds.

Wayne sued Faith in July 2025, just months after the death of Voletta (Biggie’s mom), alleging the songstress had distributed Primary Wave proceeds to Biggie’s children while withholding the trust’s share. The dispute centers on the structure of the LLC formed by Faith and Voletta after the rapper’s untimely death in 1997.

McCormick’s ruling also confirms Barrow holds a 50% membership interest in the intellectual property portfolio.

Barrow’s attorney Jay Freiberg called the outcome “a complete vindication.” He said:

“Faith had no basis whatsoever to withhold the money and to lock Wayne out. The judge in Delaware realized that and wrote a decision granting us full rights.”

The Primary Wave deal is valued at $200 million. Another legal dispute continues in Pennsylvania over the management of Biggie’s estate.
