Some good news for Nipsey Hussle fans. The wait is nearly over for the late rapper’s long-anticipated docuseries ‘Hussle’, which is set to arrive next year. The project chronicles the life and legacy of the MC and promises to feature previously unreleased music.

The docuseries is expected to span five to seven episodes and will be narrated by the ‘Last Time That I Checc’d’ rapper himself, alongside his brother, Blacc Sam. It will include never-before-seen footage, tracing Hussle’s journey from childhood to gang life, his breakthrough in music, and his rise as a cultural icon in his own right.

Directed by One9, the filmmaker behind ‘Allen Iv3rson’ and ‘Nas: Time Is Illmatic’, the series captures the scope of that journey in full. Speaking on the project, he shared:

“Nipsey had the foresight to videotape everything in his life. Even when he was young, his father videotaped everything. You see the whole transformation of a young man coming of age, finding his own voice, and then becoming such a huge inspirational figure to the Crenshaw culture and environment.”

One9 also reflected on the responsibility of telling Hussle’s story:

“We’ve been working on it for several years, making sure it’s told the right way. You’re talking about one of the most inspirational figures out there, a highly gifted child who was building his own computers to burn CDs and get his music out there.”

The series will feature insight from the Crenshaw MC’s family and friends, as well as appearances from Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar. While ‘Hussle’ is still seeking a streaming partner, all signs point to a release sometime next year.
