Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is on a roll!

For, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming action-revenge thriller ‘By Any Means.’ Co-starring Mark Wahlberg, the film sees the actor take on a dramatically transformed appearance that makes him nearly unrecognizable.

Based on a true story and set in the 1960s, the film follows young Black FBI agent Wayne Stride as he travels to Mississippi to investigate a wave of murders targeting civil rights leaders.

To crack the case, he is forced to team up with an unlikely ally: Gregory Scarpa, a notorious hitman for the Colombo crime family. Together, the two men navigate a deadly conspiracy that pushes the boundaries of justice, morality, and survival.

Directed by Elegance Bratton, the film draws inspiration from the life of civil rights leader Vernon Dahmer, who worked tirelessly to help Black Americans register to vote and even offered to cover poll taxes for those unable to afford them.

In 1966, Dahmer was killed in a brutal attack carried out by members of the Ku Klux Klan, who set fire to his home while his family was inside. His grocery store, where he maintained a voter registration book, was also burned down.

The ensemble cast includes Abdul-Mateen II, Wahlberg, Nicole Beharie, Giancarlo Esposito, David Strathairn, Josh Lucas, Ethan Embry, LisaGay Hamilton, and LaChanze.

‘By Any Means’ arrives in theaters on September 4.
