Michael B. Jordan is preparing to press pause after one of the biggest chapters of his career.

Fresh from making Oscars history with ‘Sinners’, the actor-director has revealed plans to step away for much of 2027. And, in opening up about the decision, Jordan shared just how intensely his body reacted once awards season was over.

Speaking in his new Vogue cover story, the 39-year-old revealed that he became sick the day after winning Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his dual role as Smoke and Stack in ‘Sinners.’

After months of campaigning and an emotional Oscar night, Jordan said it felt as though his body had finally reached its limit:

“Alright, I got you here, time to shut down for a second.”

The star spent the next four days recuperating with the help of an IV drip, while friends who had flown in from New Jersey continued celebrating around him.

Jordan’s schedule isn’t slowing down just yet. He is directing, producing, and starring in ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’, which hits theaters March 5, 2027, and he is also attached to the ‘Miami Vice’ reboot while producing ‘Delphi’, the ‘Creed’ spin-off.

Once promotional duties for ‘Thomas Crown’ wrap next spring, however, Jordan says he plans to take the remainder of 2027 off to reflect and process a whirlwind run that has seen him reach new heights both in front of and behind the camera.

A well-deserved breather, we’d say. Especially after a year like this one.
