According to reports, 21-year-old Beran A. pleaded guilty this Tuesday as his trial commenced in Austria.

The defendant admitted to charges involving a planned mass-casualty event at Ernst Happel Stadium, which led to the high-profile cancellation of three sold-out shows.

Prosecutors detailed a horrific plan where the suspect, who had pledged allegiance to ISIS, intended to use explosives and knives to “kill as many people as possible”.

The target included 65,000 fans inside the venue and 30,000 others gathered outside. Thankfully, intelligence from the United States helped foil the scheme. Beran A. now faces up to 20 years in prison for the attempted attack.
