Lizzo Reacts to Being “Clowned” for Poor ‘B*tch’ Album Sales: “I Was Called a ‘Desperate Flop'”

Lizzo is expressing defeat after her last studio album, the June 5-released ‘B*tch,’ not only debuted to her lowest first-week sales to date but missed the Billboard 200 entirely.

Much to the dismay of her dedicated fans (affectionately called #Lizzbians), the to-date nonperformance of the LP could signal the end of its accompanying era.

Barely four years after landing the highest-charting album of her career with ‘Special,’ Lizzo (born Melissa Jefferson) has been plagued by a series of commercial nonperforming music releases with the capstone coming courtesy of the ‘B*tch’ album.

Much like its preceding ‘Love in Real Life‘ and ‘My Face Hurts from Smiling‘ eras respectively, ‘B*tch’ failed to see any of its singles impact the Hot 100 – a key indicator that the tunes’ parent album was en route to a similar fate on other Billboard charts.

Once official reports surfaced the project sold less than a total of 3000 copies (that’s pure sales and streaming combined), the GRAMMY winner found herself on the receiving end of waves of ridicule.

Some diehard fans #Lizzbians took a different tack, however.

“Promote this album! It’s so good. Do not let this new album die,” pleaded one Tik Tok commenter.

The supportive remark, bolstered by a droves of likes from fellow fans, got the attention of Liz.

“I promoted my album and people on the internet clowned me for it, so I don’t know what to do,” she said. “I promoted my album super hard and people were calling me a ‘desperate flop.’ So, I don’t know guys.”

Ouch! Though seemingly discouraged by the overall negative response, it’s unclear at the time of this report of Lizzo will forge forward with promotion of the project via a tour or follow-up single to previously released cuts ‘B*tch’ (title track) and ‘Don’t Make Me Love U.’

The string of bad luck in her career follows ongoing legal drama stemming from accusations the Pop diva sexually harassed and fat-shamed some of her former employees.
