LeBron James is taking his talents to the City of Brotherly Love for one final championship charge.

After seriously considering retirement, the NBA icon has announced that he will sign with the Philadelphia 76ers in a blockbuster move that brings his eight-year run with the Los Angeles Lakers to an end.

Per ESPN, James has agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract that includes a player option.

The deal represents a colossal pay cut for the 41-year-old, who earned almost $53 million during his final season in Los Angeles. However, the four-time NBA champion stressed that his decision was driven by his enduring hunger to compete rather than money.

“This is my last decision. I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point?”

James revealed that he initially believed his 2025-26 campaign could be his last, but time away from the court ultimately reignited his passion.

“I still truly love this game, and I have more to give.”

The veteran superstar now joins a stacked Philadelphia lineup featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and newly acquired Jaylen Brown.

Entering a record-extending 24th NBA season, James will attempt to lead the franchise to its first championship since 1983 and secure the fifth title of his storied career.

Should he succeed, he would add a fairytale final chapter to a journey that has already seen him lift trophies in Cleveland, Miami, and Los Angeles.
