During a revealing sit-down with Jason Lee, the choreographer – whose resume includes helping shape Lady Gaga‘s early ‘The Fame‘ era and playing a pivotal role in building Danity Kane during their rise under Diddy‘s ‘Making The Band‘ empire – reflected on relationships that ultimately fractured behind the spotlight.
Speaking on Danity Kane, Gibson suggested internal ambition played a major role in the group’s unraveling, pointing specifically to tensions she says emerged early on. According to the industry veteran:
“I wish they had listened. They would still be together. This is a classic case of there are no shortcuts, ladies. I don’t believe there’s shortcuts in this business. And I believe if you stay the course, you’ll get everything that you know you desire.”
She also cited personal agendas causing a rift in the group, saying:
“Aubrey wanted to jump out there and be that star. And I’m like, you were that star, but you thought there was a shortcut.” She continued “It was a fight from day one, which I don’t judge. I just say, why does that mean everybody else is not talented?”
As for Gaga, Gibson claimed outside forces and insecure industry figures interfered with what was once a deeply trusting creative bond. She shared:
“…it only became bad because managers and handlers manipulate that relationship, right? Because you’re too close. Too much influence.” She added “I don’t even care about the influence. I just want to make sure they’re hot and not sabotaging themselves.”
Without naming names, she hinted that powerful people around Gaga felt threatened by their connection a situation she says left her blindsided.
Years later, it seems some industry wounds never fully heal.
