1997 may bring with it the 30th anniversary of NSYNC‘s debut album, but – just as longtime fans brace themselves for an announcement from the disbanded quintet to commemorate the occasion – group member Joey Fatone has taken to press to silence recent rumors that something’s being cooked up.

As Backstreet Boys continue to dominate Sin City and rumors of a Spice Girls reunion come and go, news of a recent zoom call featuring all NSYNC members hit the net – quickly sending fans into a frenzy of excitement with hopes the fivesome was discussing opportunities to reunite.

But, as murmurs around plans to headline a run at the Las Vegas Sphere flooded social media timelines, Fatone took to ‘Entertainment Tonight‘ to squash them.

“Would I want to do it? Yes. Some of the other guys, sure. Some of the other guys, maybe not,” Joey relayed to ET’s Nischelle Turner after confirming he doesn’t “see anything happening in the near future.”

When quizzed on if Justin Timberlake was the specific hold-up, Fatone didn’t exactly deny it.

“You’re not wrong in thinking [he is the hold out], but it is a group thing,” he said before sharing, “I think I’m ready. I don’t think everybody else is ready yet.”

Joey’s update comes just months after Timberlake took to press to not only announce his battle with Lyme Disease but also reveal he is uncertain about what’s next for him as a live performer.

“I honestly don’t know what my future is onstage but I’ll always cherish this run! And all of them before! It’s been the stuff of LEGEND for me,” he shared at the time of the announcement.
