Jasmine Guy may have spent the majority of her 44-year career out of headlines for mess and drama, but that doesn’t mean the EMMY winner hasn’t fielded her fair share of criticism – particularly surrounding her looks.

Years of jeers came to a head recently as some viewers of the recent Netflix reboot of ‘A Different World’ took to social media in droves to slam the 64-year-old for her aged appearance.

Tired of the ridicule, Guy has taken on the haters head-on with a direct statement on the matter.

Taking to Instagram, Jasmine addressed the barrage of ageist criticism

“The internet can be brutal to women as we grow older. It asks us to celebrate life while criticizing every sign that we’ve lived it. Growing older brings change, and I won’t pretend every change is easy. But beauty, style, and joy don’t have an expiration date.”

She concluded her statement by giving the haters a little advice.

“Let’s spend less time judging ourselves and each other, and more time loving each other, making memories, and living the life we’re here to live .”

Longtime fans of Guy know this isn’t the first time she has publicly hit back at critics of her appearance.

In 2024, she even documented her journey with non-invasive, anti-aging treatments.

Her now-viral address comes amid reports that the reboot of the iconic series (which first brought her fame in the late 80s) had soared to #1 on Netflix’s most-watched list just days after its September 24 premiere.
