Funded through ITV’s £80 million Diversity Commissioning Spend, ‘Fresh Cuts 2025’ brings together six dynamic short-form programs from POC and DDN-led companies. With new episodes landing every Monday on ITVX and ITV1, the strand is less about nostalgia and more about the present.
The season kicked off with ‘In Convo,’ where DJ and broadcaster Ras Kwame leads raw, unfiltered discussions with cultural figures like Charlene White, Fuse ODG, and Dawn Butler MP.
‘Say Less!’ follows and delivers chaotic Gen Z energy in a sketch series from Kevin Muyolo, a fast-paced, meme-ready ode to Black Twitter humor.
Sebastian Whyte’s ‘Union Black’ dives into the ties and tensions between African and Caribbean communities, with commentary from icons like Afua Hirsch, Richard Blackwood, and Wretch 32.
Speaking on the importance of these conversations, Whyte says:
“Our stories are more than trauma and slavery — they can’t be confined to one month. I want to tell stories that resonate anytime, inspired by the richness of Black culture and the need to halt erasure for future generations.”
Wrapping up the month is ‘The Re-Store’ (Oct 27), a soulful celebration of sneaker culture, led by Jordan Taylor and produced by Tamara Barton-Campbell’s Renaissance Studios.
From conversations to comedy, sneakers to solidarity, ‘Fresh Cuts 2025’ is proof that Black storytelling isn’t just history, it’s happening right now.
All episodes are available on ITVX and ITV1.
