Iggy Azalea is waxing candid about her journey into music and the factors that led to her exit from the industry.

In a rare sit-down interview with ABC‘s Nightline, the Australian rapper opened up in earnest about her breakthrough success with hits such as ‘Fancy’ and ‘Black Widow,’ as well as the storm that – almost overnight – flung her out of favor.

She also seized the opportunity to dish on how she pivoted from music to OnlyFans and now cryptocurrency.

Speaking with Ashan Singh, the femcee fondly reflected on her meteoric rise after moving to Miami by herself in her teens.

She didn’t hold back on the backlash that caused her journey to grind to a halt.

With claims of cultural appropriation and sudden scrutiny of her talent, she attributed much of this to the “political” climate of the time and her own admitted poor responses. She admitted:

“I think sometimes I regret even having an opinion at all, because it wasn’t necessarily my place to have an opinion.”

Opening up about a time she says even her peers would distance themselves from her publicly, Azalea said:

“[it was] a battlezone, and I was stepping on landmines left and right. I just…couldn’t survive it. It’s not survivable.”

The 35-year-old, who confirmed her retirement from music, revealed that she made “life-changing” money with her much-buzzed-about OnlyFans partnership – funds she is now pouring into her crypto empire.
