Beyonce gave her dedicated supporters (affectionately called #Beyhive) another reason to stand and salute on Independence Day (July 4) when she surprise-released the “new” song ‘Morning Dew (Donk)‘ – a previously unheard track that serves as the first release of content set to line the 20th anniversary reissue of her 2006 chart-topping sophomore album ‘BDAY.’
Hungry fans wasted little time running the numbers up on the cut, which not only premiered on the updated Hot 100 as the week’s highest-charting debut but also marked a historic entry for the Queen Bey.
‘Donk’ debuted at #26 on the refreshed Hot 100. Here are the numbers that powered its placement.
- Streaming ≈ 8.6 million U.S.-based streams
- Sales ≈ 4,000 digital downloads
- Radio airplay ≈ 600,000 audience impressions
The week’s top-selling new song, ‘Donk’ marks Beyonce’s 107th solo-charting song on the all-genre tally – extending her reign for most entries among female singers of color.
When all vocalists are considered, only Chris Brown (125) and Taylor Swift (277) have more appearances on the hitlist.
What’s more, the premiere of the cut in the Hot 100’s upper second quadrant comes as the 62nd time she’s nabbed a top 40 hit in her career – also extending her reign for most top 40s among female singers of color.
When all vocalist are considered, Swift (178) and Elvis Presley (81) have more top 40 hits.
It’s worth noting both of the aforementioned stats exclude her chart history with Destiny’s Child.
As for ‘Donk,’ the well-received new song is expected to join other ‘BDAY’ favorites ‘Irreplaceable,’ ‘Deja Vu,’ ‘Ring the Alarm,’ and ‘Get Me Bodied’ on the projec’ts re-release slated for September 4, 2026 (Bey’s 45th birthday).
