Gugu Mbatha-Raw is heading into dangerous waters in ‘Trinity.’

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for the eight-episode thriller, which pairs the actress with Richard Madden and arrives on December 1.

Mbatha-Raw plays Commander Katherine Decker, second-in-command aboard the nuclear submarine USS Kansas. When a crisis brings her into contact with Secretary of Defense Webb Preston, played by Madden, the connection leads far beyond the chain of command.

The trailer introduces a submarine narrowly avoiding a wrongful nuclear launch. As Decker tries to protect her crew and understand what happened, questions begin gathering around the powerful official offering answers.

Per Netflix, her growing personal connection with Preston complicates the investigation. His apparent idealism may conceal a very different agenda.

The series is helmed by Jed Mercurio, creator of ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Line of Duty,’ who serves as writer and showrunner.

For Mbatha-Raw, the project adds another suspense-driven role to a slate that includes Netflix’s airborne heist film ‘Lift’ and the Jamaica-set mystery ‘Possession.’

Here, the tension rests on a question with enormous consequences: can Decker trust the man whose decisions could determine whether a global crisis is prevented or unleashed?
