Diddy scored a legal victory after a judge dismissed several counts of a sexual assault lawsuit filed by a former ‘Making the Band’ star.
However, the woman, Sara Rivers, is saying: Not so fast.
Full story below…
This week, Judge Rakoff dismissed 22 counts in Rivers’ lawsuit.
All but one of those counts were dismissed with prejudice, meaning they cannot be filed ever again.
The remaining count was dismissed by the judge; however, the decision regarding whether it’s being dismissed “with prejudice” or “without prejudice” (meaning it can still be pursued) has been deferred.
A Second Circuit ruling will determine whether the last claim is time-barred.
Reacting to the news, Rivers took to social media to clap back.
Insisting that she won’t be “silenced,” she said she was adamant that the most serious claim (sexual assault) had not been dismissed.
The singer, who secured a spot in Da Band after appearing on the MTV show, is seeking $60 million in damages.
In a concluding shot at Diddy (born Sean Combs), she warned:
“Don’t think because y’all got all that unlimited amount of baby oil, that y’all gonna slide through this.”

Filed in February 2024, Rivers’ 148-page complaint accused Diddy of allegedly sexually assaulting her, overworking, and not paying her. It also levelled claims of battery, verbal abuse, racketeering, “inhumane” working conditions, and more.
At the time, Diddy’s reps slammed the suit as the work of an “opportunist.”
Speaking on the latest developments, a statement from his legal counsel, Erica Wolff, read:
“From the outset, we have said these claims were meritless, time-barred, and legally deficient. The Court agreed, finding no legal basis to allow them to proceed. We are pleased the Court carefully analyzed and swiftly dismissed these baseless claims.”
While it appears to serve as a win in this case, Diddy is still engulfed in a legal firestorm.
Indeed, beyond the mountain of other sexual assault civil lawsuits filed against him, he is currently awaiting sentencing in his federal criminal case.
As widely reported, the Bad Boy mogul was found guilty on two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution. Both of which are violations of the Mann Act. He was found not guilty of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.
He is currently set to be sentenced on October 3, with legal analysts anticipating a prison term. Especially in light of his bail attempts being denied.
