Chris Brown is making sure his past doesn’t affect his current future and bank account.

The R&B mainstay is pleading for his dog-biting case to be tossed out again for a new trial, revealing during the proceedings that his past with ex Rihanna played a role in the verdict. 

Brown previously demanded a new trial over problems that occurred during the proceedings, ultimately feeling the awarded amount was excessive.

Now, according to TMZ, the real reason behind his push for a new trial is the mention of his relationship with Rihanna during the trial. Brown believes that’s why the $12.9 million verdict was so harsh.

Before the trial got underway, Chris argued that his 17-year-old conviction in the Rihanna assault case was not relevant to the dog-bite lawsuit. Still, the judge ultimately allowed testimony about his assault on the Barbadian singer to move forward.

As previously reported, Maria Avila alleged that she was taking out the trash when a 200-pound Caucasian Shepherd bit her and caused severe damage to her face and arms while she was on the clock doing housekeeping.

The judge has yet to rule on Chris’s latest legal move, but a hearing is scheduled for September 22.
