This time last year, Chris Brown made headlines for his modesty after chiming in on the seemingly neverending fan debate about how his legacy stacks up to that of Michael Jackson.

And while Brown took the more diplomatic approach when addressing the comparisons to the King of Pop as well as his own millenial peers at that time, Tuesday (September 22) saw the R&B bad boy singing a very different tune – even announcing he’s entering his self-proclaimed “villain” era.

Albeit busy rocking stages across America on the hotly selling ‘R&B Tour’ alongside fellow heartthrob Usher, Brown still made time to hop on social media to put a few detractors in their places.

“I’m not your friend, I’m not your buddy, I don’t like the majority of you, I don’t want your approval, I don’t want your fake love, and I hate the music industry,” he posted to his 139 million followers on Instagram Stories on Tuesday. “F-ck being humble, f-ck your agenda, f-ck how you feel.”

The fiery rant landed on Brown’s IG just days after he took to the same platform to crown himself “the King” – a stance he reiterated with Tuesday’s tirade.

“I am the best hands down. I’m the King,” the 37-year-old megastar relayed before sharing, “Not a single artist on this planet can f-ck with me on my worst day. They know it.”

While it’s not clear what specifically caused Chris to crash out, some fans (affectionately called #TeamBreezy) believe he reached a tipping point after days of negative press stemming from last week’s Texas honoring gone-wrong to a now-viral video from David Dennis Jr., a Senior Writer for Andscape, weirdly defending the R&B star while also claiming he is a serial abuser of women.

“Sometimes when I think about Chris Brown fans, you ask them, ‘Hey, why do you like Chris Brown?’ And they say things like, ‘Well, he only brutally assaulted Rihanna two decades ago when he apologized for it.’ And they kind of don’t really acknowledge the fact that, yeah, he’s still actively abusing women to this day and kind of never stopped. And when you kind of make these excuses, you sound worse,” Dennis Jr. said (in the video seen above) before sharing, “I just think that if you love Chris Brown, love him for who he is, ‘cuz that’s a real sign of love. Love him while he’s abusing. And just be honest with yourself. Say, ‘That man backflip so good. I don’t care that he abuses women. I love his music more than I care about how he abuses women.’”

Ouch!

When the clip landed on the desk of Brown, he hopped in the comments to respond.

“Hey brother: can you show me where I’m actively abusing women to this day. NOT ALLEGEDLY, NOT I HEARD. CRIMINALITY IS PUBLIC INFORMATION WHEN YOU ARE CONVICTED OF SOMETHING!” he wrote. “So hey my good brother. PLEASE print some receipts for your claim. WHAT ABUSE CHARGES (VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN) CURRENTLY and over the last 17 years have I been convicted of,” Chris said. “I want you to show me those charges and convictions. Love your message but you are clearly misinformed or you believe any headline with out facts. Must be from all this toxic shows you speak of watching. Hope this helps your journalism.”

This isn’t the first time the R&B bad boy has called out journalists for alleging he has a history of abuse.

Last year, he sued Warner Discovery for $500 million for backing a documentary that accuses him of several instances of violence against women including a 2016 incident where a woman claimed he threated her with a gun, ex-girlfirend Karrueche Tran being granted a five-year restraining order after furnishing threatening texts from him in 2017, and 2022 rape allegations.
