Casio Sessions has officially crowned its 2026 champion.

After 16 rising singer-songwriters took to the stage at London’s Ninety One Living Room, the winner was named.

And it was one performance in particular that sealed the deal.

Akin Amusan emerged victorious at the fourth annual edition of the competition.

Held in Shoreditch on September 23, the live final brought together 16 piano-playing artists selected from a nationwide pool of entrants, with each performing an original composition for both the audience and judging panel.

Ultimately, it was Amusan’s stirring performance of original song ‘Carpenter’ that saw him take the top spot.

The judges praised the singer’s rich vocal delivery, drawing comparisons to the likes of John Legend and Sam Smith, as well as the emotive songwriting at the heart of the track.

Reacting to the win, Amusan said:

“This is a complete shock! I’m so honoured to be chosen from such an incredible group of performers. Songwriting is the purest form of expression for me, so it means a lot to see it celebrated in this way.”

His victory comes with quite the prize package too.

Amusan takes home a Casio PX-S7000HM digital piano and matching bench, together worth £2,549, as well as an exclusive studio mastering session for ‘Carpenter.’

Now in its fourth year, Casio Sessions was launched as a platform for emerging piano-playing singer-songwriters to showcase original material in a live setting.

And there is precedent for the competition serving as more than a one-night spotlight. Previous winners Stefan Mahendra and May Payne have gone on to release multiple EPs, while Mahendra recently staged his first sold-out UK show. 2025 champion Sofia Kirwan-Baez also released her winning track ‘Perfect Imperfections’ to coincide with this year’s final.

With the trophy secured and a studio session now on the agenda, all eyes are on what Amusan does with the momentum.
