Bryson Tiller has opened up about working with Timbaland at the start of his career.
What was thought to be an incredible opportunity went downhill fast.
Full story below…
According to the singer, the hitmaker told him to quit his job, and then ghosted him after not liking some of his cuts from ‘TRAPSOUL.’
In an interview with Rory and MAL, Tiller shared that the ‘One In A Million’ producer got in touch with him after hearing ‘Don’t.’
Expressing that he liked what he heard, they talked about working together. This was when Timbo allegedly told the then-rising star to quit his job and to come down to Miami to work.
Unsure because he had traditional “work” at the time, the producer’s response was direct:
‘[Timbaland] said, “This is work”. Well what you sayin’ like I should quit my job?’ He was like, ‘Yeah.”
Heeding the advice, the crooner rushed to quit his job.
Yet, after getting to Miami and recording more songs that ended up being on ‘TRAPSOUL,’ the Virginia native wasn’t feeling those and wanted more tracks like ‘Don’t.’
Those songs were ‘Sorry Not Sorry’, ‘Been That Way’, among others.
That’s when things came to an end for the two. The Louisville native returned home, and not knowing what to do next, he called Timbo. Asking if he was signed, the alleged response was that he never told him to quit his job.
The never spoke again after that, and the songwriter finished his debut album on his own. Obviously, things worked out for him.
Tiller insists that he doesn’t harbor any hard feelings towards the ‘Verzuz’ creator. And they both appeared in Genia‘s ‘Toastyyy’ music video last month.
