Britney Spears‘ ex Kevin Federline isn’t trying to make headlines. Not anymore.

The pop culture polarizer, who was famously married to the singer from 2006-2007, has announced his memoir, ‘You Thought You Knew‘, in a bid to tell his story on his terms.

Set for release on October 21 through the Listenin imprint, the memoir promises an “intimate and transparent” account of a life many assumed they already had figured out.

Promising a behind-the-scenes look at this “rise,” the venture will offer insight into his life as a dancer for the likes of Destiny’s Child, Pink, and even Michael Jackson.

His whirlwind romance with Britney Spears made him infamous. But in ‘You Thought You Knew,’ Federline claims that he isn’t aiming to rehash tabloid drama for shock value. Instead, what he’s written skews something closer to a father’s journal, with raw reflections on love, regret, and the complicated job of raising six kids (including two with Spears).
