Brandy is getting into the Hillman spirit, as she has been tapped to sing the iconic theme song for the ‘A Different World’ sequel series.

The GRAMMY-winning singer will deliver a reimagined take on the beloved theme for the HBCU-set series’ revival. The new rendition retains the familiar lyrics while introducing a fresh sound.

One of the show’s most celebrated versions of the theme was famously performed by the late, great Aretha Franklin.

Brandy knows she’s stepping into some very big shoes and hopes to do the song justice. She said:

“It feels amazing to be a part of the legacy. I just hope I can do it as much justice as Ms. Franklin.”

The songstress also opened up about how excited she was to receive the opportunity:

“When they called me to do the theme song, I was so blown away. First of all, I had to gather myself that the show was actually coming back, because I’m a fan… Singing this iconic theme song for A Different World means everything to me. It was one of those shows that I had to watch every time it came on. I remember the song and how it made me feel.”

The singer and actress will help usher a new generation into the world of Hillman when ‘A Different World’ arrives on Netflix on September 24.
