Paramount+ is set to become the company’s lone subscription streamer in the U.S. after confirming plans to absorb BET+ later this year.

The move, announced internally by BET Networks president Louis Carr, will see more than 1,000 hours of programming from the platform migrate to Paramount+.

The consolidation, which will commence in June, follows Paramount’s acquisition of Tyler Perry Studios’ minority equity stake in BET+.

The prolific filmmaker and producer had reportedly owned around 25 percent of the platform since its 2019 launch. While financial terms were not disclosed, the stake had previously been valued in the tens of millions.

In a statement to Deadline, a Paramount spokesperson confirmed:

“As part of this evolution, Paramount acquired Tyler Perry Studios’ equity stake in BET+. We share the same ambition to expand the reach of BET content, and Tyler will continue to be a valued and important partner through his overall programming agreement.”

Following the transition, current BET+ subscribers who joined through the standalone app will be offered a discounted pathway to Paramount+. Once the app sunsets, all original and licensed BET+ content will shift to the streamer’s existing BET hub.

The catalog includes series such as ‘All The Queen’s Men,’’ ‘Divorced Sistas,’ and ‘The Ms. Pat Show.’

The shift also dramatically expands reach. BET+’s estimated 3.5 million subscribers will now see its programming housed on a platform with roughly 80 million global users.
