Babyface is set to honour his late collaborator. Specifically, the 13-time Grammy winner will headline the fifth annual Legacy of Love Gala celebrating Whitney Houston.

The event takes place on August 8 at The Whitley Hotel in Atlanta. This year’s theme is ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody,’ in honour of what would have been Houston’s 63rd birthday.

Babyface worked with Houston on several of her biggest hits, including ‘Exhale (Shoop Shoop),’ ‘I’m Your Baby Tonight,’ and ‘When You Believe‘ with Mariah Carey.

He previously reflected on “I’m Your Baby Tonight” with PEOPLE in 2025. Babyface explained that the song felt unlike anything else on radio at the time. He admitted it was not typical of Houston’s style, but it felt right. The track became his first No. 1 pop hit.

Pat Houston, the gala’s co-presenter and Whitney’s sister-in-law, expressed excitement about the announcement. Pat said:

“Babyface was not just one of Whitney’s favourite songwriters and producers, he was also a dear and close friend. He has single-handedly been responsible for many of Whitney’s hits and career-defining songs.”

She also teased “wonderful surprises” for attendees. The foundation continues Houston’s dedication to charitable work globally.
