Over two decades after first hitting screens, the beloved ‘Are We They Yet?’ franchise is officially gearing up for a comeback.

After watching the original ‘There’ (2005) and its sequel ‘Are We Done Yet?’ (2007) prove to be major box office successes by jointly pulling in more than $156 million worldwide, Ice Cube and Nia Long are set to reunite for ‘Are They Gone Yet?’ – the newly announced third chapter in the hit comedy film series.

Currently in early development, the new installment will see “Nick Persons” (Cube) facing an entirely new kind of chaos after becoming a grandfather.

Reflecting on the revival, the rapper-actor shared excitement about revisiting a franchise that audiences have grown up with while introducing the next generation to the beloved characters.

“We built something special with this franchise. Audiences grew up with Nick Persons, and now Nick’s got grandkids. Time flies,” he said. “Partnering with Skydance to bring this story to a new generation is exactly the kind of move CubeVision was built for, and I am excited for the new partnership.”

Now, with a fresh story and familiar faces returning, nostalgia may be getting ready for its next big-screen family moment.

At writing, it’s not been confirmed who of the original cast will be joining Cube and Long for ‘Gone.’
