Just like Michael B. Jordan who joined a historic crew of Black men to win the Best Actor OSCAR at the Academy Awards on Sunday (March 15), Ice Cube saw his name added to an exclusive list of Black male actors for his performance in a 2025 film.

The difference, however, is Cube (born O’Shea Jackson) probably won’t be celebrating the news.

Taking to press on Saturday (March 14), the 45th annual Golden Raspberry Awards – affectionately known as “The Razzies” – unveiled their list of winners for what their voting academy deemed the worst films of 2025.

Atop their list was Cube’s ‘War of the Worlds‘ – the Prime Video film adaptation of the 1898 science fiction novel from H.G. Wells.

The movie not only captured Worst Picture, Worst Remake, and Worst Screenplay but won the Rap star-turned-screen star Worst Actor while its helmsman Rich Lee collected Worst Director – an awards sweep that only added to the overwhelmingly negative critical reaction the sci-fi flick received at the time of its release.

Thanks to his 2025 win, Jackson becomes only the eighth Black man in the Razzie’s 45-year history to capture the Worst Actor award following Prince (1986), Bill Cosby (1987), Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans (2006), Eddie Murphy (2007), Jaden Smith (2013), and LeBron James (2021).
